Gender budget initiatives
Why is progress towards gender equality so slow? Despite commitments of governments all over the world to gender equality, unequal gender relations prevail. In part, this is a failure to attach money to policy commitments, in other words, a failure to reflect a gender perspective in government budgets. Some feminists argue that for focus on gender budgeting, i.e. initiatives that aim to influence governments to implement gender sensitive budgets and more inclusive models of decision-making about government expenditure and revenue collection.
